The beaches of Alicante

Some of Alicante’s best tourist attractions are its excellent beaches. Tabarca Island

If you want the Mediterranean all to yourself, Tabarca is the place for you. This small island has a wide range of flora and fauna, which constitute Spain’s first ever marine reserve.

La Almadraba beach

A small uncrowded beach, ideal for rest and relaxation. The sea here is tranquil with no waves and it’s the perfect place for watching a sensational sunset.

Cabo de la Huerta coves

Between the beaches at Almadraba andSan Juan, rocks and sand form these beautiful coves with crystalline water.

San Juan beach

Almost 3 kilometres of golden sand make San Juanthe most popular beach inAlicante. This is a long open beach with high quality fine sand.

Postiguet beach

This beach is located inAlicante’s city centre, at the foot ofSanta Barbara Castle and next to the marina and the Explanada de España.

Playa de Aguamarga, the ultimate ‘doggy’ beach in Alicante 

A unique beach in Europe that has been adapted especially for dogs; truly a ‘Doggy Beach’, offering all the services you and your pet need to spend a couple of wonderful days relaxing, with everything you need to ensure your days by the seaside are perfect. Playa de Aguamarga is the first ‘Dog Friendly’ beach in Spain, allowing dogs to go into the sea during the summer months. It also offers specially adapted services so that you and your pet can enjoy a holiday that truly meets your needs.

 

Saladares Urbanova beach

This beach is located 5 km from Alicante city center. It is situated in a quiet area, with plenty of services for visitors and signposted nudist areas.

Albufereta beach

Located to the north east of the city of Alicante, between the Serra Grossa and Tossal de Manises, in an area with important archaeological sites. This is where the city’s origins lie.

Areas for people with disabilities

Between July and August, the city of Alicante offers an accessible beach service, with recreational-educational areas aimed at people with mental disabilities, as well as a bathing/swimming assistance service for people with physical disabilities. The accessible areas are located on the beaches of San Juan, Postiguet and in Saladar-Urbanova.

Water Sports

Alicante is the perfect destination for the year-round enjoyment of water sports such as jet skiing, sailing, diving, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, competition fishing and waterskiin­g all year round.
