Discover Alicante city with Expedia and live an endless summer.

With its six beaches, four of which have been awarded blue flags, and over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, Alicante is the perfect spot in which to fully enjoy the Mediterranean. Worthy of special mention in this regard are the beaches at San Juan and El Postiguet, without forgetting the Isla de Tabarca, the only inhabited island in the Comunitat Valenciana region.

Alicante-Elche international airport, just 9 kilometres from the city centre, is one of Spain’s most important, with direct connections to 120 airports in over 20 countries. Alicante also has an AVE high-speed train service to Madrid, comfortably connecting the two cities.

Alicante marina is in the heart of the city, just across from the popular Paseo de la Explanada and Santa Bárbara Castle. Here you can find a wide range of nautical and leisure options day and night, as well as fine restaurants serving produce fresh from the sea and other delights of Mediterranean cuisine.

Santa Bárbara Castle is one of Alicante’s most important, most historic monuments. It is perfectly possible to walk up to the castle, either through the picturesque Santa Cruz neighbourhood or up Monte Benacantil, with its spectacular views, although the castle can also be reached by car or by a lift cut out of the rock. However, this is not the only example of Alicante’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Also deserving special mention are the MARQ Provincial Archaeological Museum, the MACA Museum of Contemporary Art, the Fogueres Festival Museum, the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás and The Ocean Race museum, among others.

There is a wide range of attractive accommodation options available to visitors, with numerous hotels in all categories in the old city centre, the Explanada maritime promenade, the city’ beaches or even on the island of Tabarca.
