Explanada de España

Also known as the “Paseo de la Explanada”, this is a maritime promenade that runs parallel to the port, from Puerta del Mar to Canalejas Park. One of the most popular areas in Alicante.

El Palmeral Park

El Palmeral Park is a great place to spend mornings or afternoons with children: there are large areas to walk, run aand play among abundant palm trees and pathways. There is an artificial lake, artificial rivers and wooden bridges to cross over them.

Paseo de Gómiz

This promenade offers visitors a wide range of possibilities, from sea-facing terraces to enjoy a drink to pleasant walks. During Les Fogueres de Sant Joan (Saint-John bonfires), a festival of International Tourist Interest, the Paseo de Gómiz turns into one of the city’s major gathering spots.

Canalejas park

Situated very close to the sea and the Explanada de España, this is one of Alicante’s most well-known and most visited parks, famous for its centenary ficus trees that provide shade during the whole length of the park.

Portal de Elche square

The former gateway to Alicante, once known as “Hanging Square” as it was here that justice used to be imparted until 1810. Fortunately, today’s visitors will “only” find a pleasant square with centenary ficus trees.

Gabriel Miró square

Also known as “Post Office Square”, as the Postal Service Headquarters is located here in a magnificent building that has recently been restored to its former glory. This square is situated in a strategic central location, very close to the main business district and the old town. Its leafy centenary ficus trees make this a particularly special place.

La Ereta park

This park has excellent views of San Nicolás Co-Cathedral and the Port thanks to its location on Mount Benacantil. It is also a great starting point for visiting other appealing sights such as the Santa Cruz district.

La Santísima Faz square

This is one of the city’s most picturesque squares. Located just behind the Town Hall, it is one of the points of access to the old town. The square is flanked by tall palm trees.

Los Luceros square

This is one of the most emblematic squares in Alicante. Located right in the heart of the city centre, it is here that the famous firecracker displays are held every year as part of Alicante’s main festivals, las Hogueras.

Paseíto Ramiro

In this historical place located in front of the beach of Postiguet are the archaeological remains of the wall of Alicante that date from the XVI century.

Paseo Volado

This walkway was built to mark the Volvo Ocean Race and has extended the city’s area for recreation 500 metres nearer the sea. It was built by engineer Florentino Regalado, based on an idea by his daughter Elena.

Bullring (Plaza de Toros)

Plaza de Toros bullfighting ring is located in Plaza de España square. It houses the Bullfighting Museum of Alicante.

Panteón de Quijano

The Pantheon of Quijano is one of the city’s iconic parks. The site invites you to pause and reflect. The history of the site goes back to the kindness of a man who fought against an epidemic that hit Alicante in the late nineteenth century, during which he lost his life.

Other parks and gardens in Alicante

Lo Morant park

Located to the north of the city centre, this is Alicante’s largest park with various areas for recreation including pine groves, a lake, picnic areas and sports facilities. A great place to enjoy the outdoors.

Monte Tossal

Located at the foot of San Fernando Castle. This is a theme park dedicated to the Region of Valencia’s geography and it has fantastic sports facilities.

Plaza Calvo Sotelo

Known as the “Pigeon Park”, this park is located in the square bearing the same name and has borne witness to some of the city’s most important historical events.
